The Dining-In is an honored military tradition for all ranks of the military. The ceremony can be traced back as far as the Knights of the Round Table. The practice may have even originated among the Old Saxon nobles of tenth century England and is probably more than a thousand years old. This ancient practice came to the United States via Washington's Continentals who realized the value of this tradition to foster pride in unit, morale, and loyalty.
